The Curry Club Signature – Casual Indian fine dining with positively different vegetarian options

When passion for food gets coupled with nostalgia, it’s always a home run for the palate! The Curry Club Signature is a casual Indian fine dining restaurant that brings Indian flavours with a contemporary twist to the forefront. Founded by Mr. Raj, a former SIA crew member, the restaurant is known for its family lineage in the culinary space. Their recipes in the menu contain some secret ingredients that have been passed down through generations.

The decor of the place is warm, aesthetically done, and suitable for special occasions. I visited them for my anniversary dinner as their chef’s vegetarian tasting menu caught my attention. The menu has interesting items with a twist and is a refreshing departure from the standard Indian cuisine. Helmed by a experienced chef with global exposure, their experimentation in vegetarian food is commendable.

Tempura cauliflower florets
Golden Caulipops

The crispy fried tempura cauliflower florets are the perfect to start the snacking. The sambal chilli dip adds the twist to this dish and packs the required punch.

Pani Puri
Puri Bombs

The Puri Bombs are a reimagination of the classic Pani Puri where the fried puris contained an avocado relish with Japanese cucumber for flavour. The taste may not be an exact replication but it was a good attempt.

Dosas with chutneys
Rollin’ Dosas

For me, the dosa cone triplets were an instant hit – from the presentation to the taste. The homemade dosa batter was crispy and filled with three items of different tastes and paired with three chutneys – cashew, spinach and coconut.

Burnt aubergine with cream
Fire Kissed Aubergine

The burnt baby aubergine served with curry cream looked like a corn cob visually. It reminded me of bhaingan bharta (Indian mashed eggplant) in taste.

Pea and cheese roulade
Pea and Cheese Roulade

Green pea roll stuffed with blue cheese and served with mint and beetroot chutney. For the first time, I did not find blue cheese to be overpowering and when paired with the mint chutney, the roulade turned out to be perfectly balanced.

Spicy tofu in spinach gravy
Tofu Tikki Twist

This dish is the highlight of this vegetarian menu and is an unique take on palak paneer. Spicy tofu in spinach gravy served with tempered quinoa. There are additional twists in this dish, from the crispy lotus stem to the crispy boondi topping. Do not miss this one!

Banana fritters with ice cream
Golden Rhapsody

Caramelized banana fritters paired with cempedak ice cream – this was an interesting combination with the crisp exterior of the banana contrasting perfectly with the soft interior. The ice cream paired perfectly with the sweetness of the banana.

Asian fizz mocktail
Asian Fizz

The gastrobar vibe of the restaurant ensures an exhaustive drink menu. I tried the Asia Fizz, a mocktail consisting of elderflower, cinnamon, yuzu and orange. The drink was extremely refreshing.

Overall, the restaurant holds a lot of potential with its modern creativity approach. A special mention to the customer service staff who explained the dishes, were kind enough to replace a dish in case of allergies, and exhibited overall prompt service. Their commitment to serve the community with a wholesome experience resonated through the meal. For Indian vegetarian fine dining that is positively different and does not break the wallet, the Curry Club Signature is definitely worth visiting.
