Jimmy Monkey Cafe – Brunch cafe in One North

Jimmy Monkey has been my go-to brunch cafe in One North for more than a decade now. Step past the wooden deck, and the aroma of freshly-roasted beans pulls you into this cafe’s bright and industrial-chic space. Tucked away in the greenery of One-North Residences, this cafe serves up artisanal coffees along with Australian-style brunch favorites.

At any given time, you’ll spot remote workers tapping away on laptops, and pet parents unwinding outdoors, and girlfriends catching up over a brunch. This adds to the diverse community feel of the cafe. The friendly staff greeted me and directed me to place my order at the counter.

Jimmy Monkey Cafe’s menu has the standard vegetarian brunch options. They also have weekly lunch sets written clearly on their blackboard.

Our orders were varied and focused on trying a combination of items from their menu. Reserve your table in advance during peak hours.

The grilled cheese sandwich is a weekly set lunch special on Mondays. The kitchen grills the sandwich to a crisp, golden-brown perfection, delivering an addictive crunch with every bite. Above all, the acidity in the salad cuts through the richness of the cheese, keeping the overall dish light and flavorful.

Jimmy Monkey Cafe turns a summer staple into a vibrant centerpiece with its watermelon salad. Basically the sweet and cold watermelon cuts through the salty and creamy feta making it a refreshing palate cleanser. The greens provide a satisfying contrast to the sweet fruit. For that reason and the quality of the ingredients, this is one of the best watermelon salads that I have tasted and hence highly recommended.

Jimmy Monkey Cafe is known for its beverages, especially coffees. Both drinks undeniably rely on expertly extracted shots ensuring the coffee flavor punches through the milk. They did not taste watered down, and because of that, they were good.

The weekly lunch set specials come with a sweet or savory side item. They can also be ordered à la carte. I tried the scones and they were baked well without the center feeling dry. The cafe brings a slice of classic afternoon tea culture into the overall brunch vibe.

If you love avocado toast, order the Hulk, it’s easily one of my personal favourites on the menu. For those staying in the east, their other outlet is in PLQ Parkside.

More than just a good coffee spot, Jimmy Monkey Cafe offers a welcoming sanctuary in the middle of Singapore’s tech hub. This breezy gem is ideal for casual meals. Skip the crowded city center and spend some time in this laidback brunch cafe in One North certainly.
