Bangalore Cafe – Pure vegetarian restaurant in Little India with authentic taste

If you’re looking for a pure vegetarian restaurant in Little India that trades flashy decor for authentic, soul-warming Karnataka flavors, then Bangalore Cafe is the answer. This restaurant predominantly brings heritage recipes from South India to the forefront within the comfort of its no-frills atmosphere.
To cater to a wider palate, the menu bridges the breakfast and street style foods of Karnataka with a spread of North Indian favorites. Indian Chinese food options also feature in the menu. Bangalore Cafe is Jain-friendly and vegan-friendly as they can cater to specific dietary requirements.
If you want to try a little bit of South Indian food in one go, then go for their combo meals. They offer three different varieties from 8 AM – 11.30 AM on weekdays (excluding public holidays). I’d recommend Combo 3 which has idli, vada and dosa combined as a set.

The golden lace structure of this Rava Dosa is inviting and has a rich and buttery mouthfeel. The Podi packed a punch with a spice kick that lingers after the initial crunch of the dosa.
During lunch time, Bangalore Cafe offers South Indian meals and North Indian meals from 12 PM – 3.30 PM daily. Traditionally, the meal sets are called Thalis in India, which is a rotating selection of regional delicacies served in a plate.

The diverse components in the South Indian spread are – Sambhar, Rasam, yogurt and vegetables in dry and gravy versions. There is evidently a generous portion of rice along with puris. The taste moves from normal spicy to a sweet finish in the form of payasam or a traditional dessert.

The North Indian meal comes with tandoor rotis, rice, dal, paneer gravy, dry vegetable and sweet. Both the meal sets give a home-cooked feel with a wholesome vibe. Highly recommended, especially if you are hungry.

Personally, if there’s one Karnataka dish that defines a warm hug from a grandmother, it would be Bisibele Bhath. The spiciness, tanginess and the generous swirl of ghee blends equally in this dish. Do not miss it!

Imagine a fluffy and deep-fried bun with a gently sweet taste from honey – and that is Mangalore Buns for you. It sits perfectly on the fence between a teatime snack and a mild dessert. They are available only on Wed and Sat on the menu, making it a prized specialty.

Dal Holige is a thin and sweet flatbread with a filling of lentils and molten jaggery. This is a Karnataka special item and available only on the weekends. Each plate comes with two pieces and is absolutely addictive. Highly recommended.

When you get served piping hot jalebis, you just rejoice! These golden and sweet spirals are delicious and melt in the mouth consequently. Albeit, they are available only on the weekends.
For the filter kaapi (filter coffee) fans, do try the Special Organic Jaggery Coffee at Bangalore Cafe. Furthermore,it hits the happy note after a satiating meal.
The staff are attentive, friendly and are ready to give suggestions, when asked. During the peak hours, the restaurant could get a bit crowded and mainly has two-seater and four-seater tables. The main win for them is their varied menu that allows you to not repeat your orders even if you visit them multiple times. Most of the items on the menu are shareable and hence it’s friendly on the wallet.
Bangalore Cafe is a pure vegetarian restaurant in Little India serving delicious and wholesome food that makes you happy. Its location makes it a convenient choice for travelers and residents alike. Overall, a restaurant that is definitely worth visiting without a doubt.
