Suzuki Coffee – Japanese style cafe at Boon Lay

If you want to take a long drive in Singapore, get some coffee and find some tranquility, Suzuki Coffee is the answer. Suzuki Coffee is a Japanese style cafe at Boon Lay, situated in the west of Singapore. This is one of Singapore’s oldest roasteries operating since 1979 and offers the widest selection of finely roasted ground coffee in Asia.

The natural sunlight that streams into the cafe adds to warm ambience of this cafe. The interiors resemble a Kyoto-inspired teahouse with wooden elements that instantly remind you of a quiet afternoon in Japan. The zen garden features blend beautifully inside the cafe.

If you are a coffee afficionado, then you would be able to appreciate various aspects of Suzuki Coffee that come across as an aesthetic coffee laboratory.

The menu is coffee-centric and has some very interesting options. There are the standard classic options like Mocha and various special and filter coffees. They offer Hokkaido fresh milk or oat milk as the alternate options. They also have hot chocolate and some teas as part of their offerings. The light bites can be bought from across the display counter.

My overall order (L to R in the pic below) for approximately $30 for 2 pax was:

1. Iced Cascara Lemonade: An absolutely refreshing drink that is so perfect for the humid weather in Singapore. Cascara is the dried husk of the coffee cherry, known for its sweet, fruity, and slightly tangy flavour, similar to hibiscus or dried fruit.
2. Mocha: Good cup of coffee that hit the right notes.
3. Lemon Madeleine
4. Chocolate Brownie

Even though the cafe might be slightly inaccessible to get to, this Japanese style cafe at Boon Lay is highly recommended to visit. Suzuki Coffee is an apt place to smell the coffee and experience much more than just a cup of joe.
