1932 Story Cafe – Themed Cafe at Bukit Timah Rail Corridor that is IG-Worthy

Fancy a walk that evokes a dose of nostalgia? The restored Bukit Timah railway station along the Rail Corridor is a perfect relaxed hiking trail to traverse along with family and friends. There are lot of informative boards along the rail corridor about its history which makes for a fascinating read.

Built in the same year as its name, 1932 Story is a café situated along this trail and is housed in the former Station Master’s Bungalow. Serving as a blast from the past, the railway-themed memorabilia in the café and the overall décor makes the café highly Instagrammable.

The menu has a significant variety – local food, small bites, pastas, coffees, and desserts. The vegetarian options are covered in all these categories – classic aglio olio, truffle mushroom pie with salad, vegan meatballs, fries, etc. Based on the time of the day, some of these items could be sold out but standard café fare should be available. The café is more popular on weekends as families frequent this place, hence if you time your visit well, you’ll get to experience an extremely relaxed time.

The cheese fries were crispy and seasoned well with the nacho sauce dribbled all over the bowl. Perfect small bite, especially when it’s raining outside in Singapore.

This cappuccino had sugar sprinkled on the top and had a torched effect. There were no bitter notes in the coffee and had a gentle vanilla and caramel flavour. The need for a good brew stood satisfied.

The Caramel Macchiato was sweet and light with the focus not deterred from the actual espresso.

The croiffer brought together the flakiness of the croissant and the crispy goodness of the waffle. It was drizzled with ice cream, fresh strawberries and chocolate sauce. It definitely turned out to be a sweet twist worth recommending.

The cafe integrates a heritage aspect along with cafe food which makes it unique in Singapore. If you like to explore interesting places and sometimes want an escape from the fast-paced city life, then 1932 Story cafe is definitely worth visiting for its amped up nostalgia quotient.
