Frankie and Fern’s – Rooftop cafe at Holland Village Shopping Centre

Frankie and Fern’s – Rooftop cafe at Holland Village Shopping Centre

Frankie and Fern’s is a spacious rooftop cafe at Holland Village Shopping Centre. There are plenty of cafes in the area, but this one is away from the bustling streets. Take the elevator next to UOB Bank and head to the fourth floor to land right at the cafe.

The first thing that struck me about the cafe is that its well-lit by natural daylight which instantly gave off positive vibes. The common seating space has some small tables, sofas and a large communal table. The cafe also has an outdoor terrace if you prefer alfresco dining. The menu is mainly suited for brunches and lunches through the week. They are also open during dinner time from Friday to Sunday.

Frankie and Fern’s has quite a few vegetarian food items on their menu. It is significantly more than what I have seen in most cafes in Singapore.

Shoestring Fries

The shoestring fries were difficult to resist, especially with grated parmesan cheese on top, and a garlic aioli dip on the side. If you are in the cafe during coffee time, this is a perfect accompaniment.

Sourdough and Almond Hummus Rooftop cafe at Holland Village
Sourdough and Almond Hummus at $14

We ordered the sourdough and almond hummus. Two people can easily share the dish, as the portion size is generous. The sourdough bread was toasted well, and had a crisp texture. The almond hummus had a smooth and buttery texture and had green olives, chickpeas, sun dried tomatoes, and cumin seeds. Highly recommended.

Lemon Ginger Mint tea

Off late, I have begun to enjoy the teas by the pot. The combination of lemon and ginger was soothing and refreshing in the late afternoon time.

Sticky Toffee Date Cake with Vanilla Ice cream
Sticky Toffee Date Cake with Vanilla Ice cream at $12

The sticky toffee date cake or pudding is usually my go-to order in desserts if it is present on the menu. At Frankie and Fern’s, they offer it as a cake slice with an option to add vanilla ice cream. The cake was a bit too sweet for me, but the huge scoop of ice cream did not disappoint.

A rooftop cafe at Holland Village acts as a good spot to catch up with friends or as an outing for a relaxed brunch. I noticed that they have given importance to the food menu along with the beverages – which is rare to find. The constant crowd indicated the popularity of the cafe, especially on weekends. If you are in Holland Village, then Frankie and Fern’s is definitely worth visiting.
