Supply and Demand

As the weekend approaches, everyone wants to unwind, chill a bit and catch up with friends. Nestled along a nice view in Esplanade where the excitement of the evening was palpable, Supply and Demand proved to be a perfect evening place in terms of ambience. It is always better to reserve in case of weekend outings as the place was packed when we arrived. As we waited to be seated, I noticed that some tables had swings as seats which was quite unique. This place has both indoor and alfresco dining along with a rooftop bar. We sat indoors on the ground floor which had long tables and spacious seating. There was some interesting decor in the restaurant space like cycles hung on the walls and phonographs.

The Orders
Being an avid reader, good quotes interest me and their menu had interesting statements scribbled across at the top. They had a stencil pad along with their menu which was a nice read in the candle light.

The restaurant states itself to be an Italian-Peruvian joint but there were more influences of the former cuisine in the menu. To begin with, we ordered the ‘Vegetariano Pizza’. This was a thin-crust pizza with onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, artichokes and olives as the toppings. The crust had a decent spread of tomato sauce and was quite chewy and tasty. They have a wide variety in their pizza offerings and also give you the choice to combine two flavours onto your pizza. A large 13″ pizza can be shared by two people.

A typical Italian dinner, more often than not, consists of pizza and pasta in the form of orders. We promptly ordered the ‘Vegetariano Pasta’ which had a nice balance of seasoning and crunchiness of vegetables with a thick sauce base.

Their menu mentioned that “Not having dessert is like not getting a complete meal”. But I have to say that this was the course that left me a tad disappointed. I was happy to see the ‘Molten Chilli infused Chocolate cake’ on their menu as I like the combination. It had visual appeal but the taste of chilli was nowhere to be found and the cake was dry in texture.

To give their desserts another try, we went for ‘Salted caramel and chocolate crumble parfait’ which was quite decent in taste but nothing great. Also, their desserts were a bit pricey for the offered quantity.

On the whole, Supply and Demand is worth a visit for its pizza and pasta varieties, ambiance, friendly service and as a cool hangout for spending a relaxed evening.
